USA, 1960s
This side chair is a the result of the collaboration between Charles and Ray Eames and Alexander Girard when he was designing the interior of La Fonda Del Sol restaurant. They are a variation of
the Eames fiberglass side chair with a lower back. We do not have the La Fonda base, so it is pictured on a zinc H base. Herman Miller produced the chairs for the restaurant, then introduced them
into their product line. This chair has a parchment fiberglass shell and is upholstered in tan, leather-look Girard naugahyde.
From the Eames Office Catalogue: "It was the development of the upholstery covers for the La Fonda chairs that led the Eames Office away from the early removable one piece pad
upholstery to this style of upholstery, which was permanently attached to the shell, and held tight by the vinyl edgeband."
In good vintage condition with no split seams. Very small abrasions (pictured) to the upholstery and tiny paint dots.
